Roy Simmons (American)
Simmons achieves a nice balance between the delicate details of a finely written document and the large colored geometries of the abstracted landscape behind it.
In addition to being an artist, Simmons served as the coach of the Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team from 1971 to 1998. Simmons’ teams won the National Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Lacrosse Championship six times, and appeared in the national semifinals during 16 consecutive seasons.
