Yoruba artist (Nigeria)
When we acquired this thirty years ago, the simple, stark form was represented as a traditional gong from the Yoruba people. It has since been suggested that it might have been made for sale, using a discarded car muffler. Personally, we think it might have been a maquette for an ammunition storage facility on the planet Battleworld.. Whatever its origin, it’s a striking piece of sculpture.
