Papua New Guinea artist
A fetching & highly wearable tribal New Guinea armband whose 7 shell bangles delightfully ‘tinkle’ with motion. The glint and chime of these highly prized rings spurred their extensive trade so they are oft collected far afield of their likely coastal Morobe Province origin.
Shell rings, laboriously cut from the bottom face of the trochus snail Tectus niloticus, (favored for its mother of pearl like sheen), conjoined on one side with a simple bast string binding.
3″ high, 3.25″ smallest inside dimension. 4″ largest outside dimension.
