A contemporary reproduction of a traditional object from the Lega people of the DRC. Many African carvers have turned to reproducing tribal pieces for sale to outsiders, principally the Western art market. These objects are artificially aged to make them appear to have been used (in much the same way that our fashion industry adds wear and tear to new jeans and hoodies).
